Plunkett McGartland - Biography
Born and raised in Killeeshil, near Dungannon in County Tyrone, Plunkett has been making waves throughout the Irish music industry for some years. Showing exceptional promise from an early age, he has been playing piano since he was 8 and violin since he was 16. With an extremely rare ability of being able to marry an uncanny talent for aural musicianship with a classical music grounding, Plunkett graduated from the University of Ulster in 1999 with an Honours Degree in Music before launching into his teaching career.
In parallel with the professional path he has taken, Plunkett’s talent has seen him perform with artists from all areas of Irish Music, most notably Phil Coulter, with whom Plunkett has completed international tours as his fiddle player and 2nd pianist. He is constantly in demand as an orchestrator, multi-instrumentalist and producer and has worked on countless albums on the Irish music scene.
